Finidi George will now start his reign as Super Eagles head coach after he was unveiled by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Abuja on Monday.
Sports Minister John Owan Enoh and President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Gusau were among the dignitaries at the unveiling ceremony.
Finidi was previously an assistant to former handler of the team Jose Peseiro.
The former Ajax and Real Betis winger worked with Peseiro for 20 months.
The new Super Eagles gaffer has also picked five assistants. They are three foreign-based who will join Daniel Amokachi while Olatunji Baruwa will serve as goalkeeper trainer.
The former Enyimba gaffer led the Super Eagles as a caretaker coach for the friendlies against Black Stars of Ghana and Eagles of Mali in March.
His first game in charge of the three-time African champions will be against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in June.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture will hold at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The Super Eagles will also be up against Squirrels of Benin few days later.
The three-time African champions sit in third position in Group C with two points from two games.
Rwanda occupy top spot in the group with four points, while South Africa are second with three points.
