A climber was found dead on North America’s tallest peak, Denali, on Monday, a day after a family member told rangers they hadn’t heard from them in days, authorities said.

The climber was using a satellite communication device to keep in contact with their family during a solo attempt to climb Denali, according to a statement from Denali National Park and Preserve. Rangers found the climber’s tent and used information gathered from interviews and location data from their satellite device account to identify where they may be.

A climbing team had reported seeing the climber traversing from a 17,200-foot plateau to Denali Pass at 18,200 feet last Wednesday, the park said.

Data indicated the device hadn’t changed locations since Thursday, “suggesting a fall from the Denali Pass traverse took place on that day,” the park said.

The climber’s body was found Monday, and the park said recovery efforts would be made when weather conditions allowed. The climber’s name hasn’t been released.

They are one of at least 14 people to have died in falls since 1980 along this section of Denali’s West Buttress route, the park said.

About 350 climbers are currently on the route, though most are lower because it’s still early in the climbing season, the park said.

The Senator representing the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State in the National Assembly (NASS), Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has further exposed Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, declaring he made passes at her.

She made this revelation during an interview on Arise TV on Friday, February 28, 2025 said that Akpabio, made passes to indicating intimate affairs.

Recalling the alleged incident on Friday, the Kogi Central senator claimed that the encounter occurred in December, just a day before their respective birthdays.

“It all started the day before his birthday and my birthday because we are birthday mates.

“We were all in Akwa Ibom. At first, we were in his house at Ikot Ekpene. Then we all went to his house in Uyo, then he held my hands, walking around from room to room, he showed me the beautiful interiors.

“He got to this particular sitting room and asked me if I liked his house. I said of course, Sir, every room is beautiful, beautiful taste. And he said, Now you are a senator, I am going to create time for us to come create quality moments here. You will enjoy it.’ At that point, I just pulled away because I didn’t understand what he meant,” she said.

The Kogi senator further noted that since she rejected Apkabio’s sexual advances, the senate president has consistently undermined her role as a senator, including removing her from key committees and reassigning her Senate seat without notice.
