The management of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has clarified that students in state universities are also eligible for the student loan program, not just those in federal Universities.

It emphasised that, by law, state institutions are included in the program, and described claims suggesting otherwise as “incorrect.”

This was made known in a statement by the NELFUND Media and Public Relations Lead, Nasir Ayitogo, on Tuesday, May 21.

The statement reads: “The management of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has noticed the publication of misleading narratives on social media claiming that the student loan programme is solely for federal institutions. NELFUND categorically states that this information is incorrect.

“State institutions are unequivocally by law included in our student loan programme.

“The programme is designed to roll out in phases in order to ensure effective and efficient management of the process.

“The first phase for a start will focus on students attending federal institutions.
