Just three months after a report detailing the dilapidated state of the LEA primary school in Bagusa, Dei Dei community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the action packed FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has started the rehabilitation of the school.
The story with the headline, “Nigerian Pupils Lack Classrooms, Learn Under Fallen Roof In FCT Government School” with accompanying pictures, was published on March 7, 2024.
A visit to the school had showed that students of the school who were in their teens were arranged under a makeshift structure built from wood.
A civic tech group, Monitng, has also called on Wike to provide the students with a suitable learning space after the roof of the structure had fallen and exposing the pupil to the scorching sun that afflicts them while studying.
Speaking on Saturday, Founder of Monitng, Ilevbaoje Uadamen, confirmed that the FCT authorities led by the Minister had started the rehabilitation of the school.
“Wike has bowed to pressure as the pupils of the LEA primary school in the Bagusa, Dei Dei community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who has been seen learning under a fallen roof because of lack of classrooms.
“The construction of 10 classrooms and administrative blocks is ongoing. Our team was there yesterday,” he said
