The Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ambassador Musa Sani Nuhu, has emphasized the need for convergence and synergy between institutions in the sub-region to achieve common objectives.

Drawing from his experience as a former chairman of a committee, Amb. Nuhu reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to regional integration, even as he said “inclusivity is key to achieving this goal”.

The envoy stated this when he received the First Female Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Hon. Memounatou Ibrahima, and management staff of parliament on Friday in his Abuja office.

He said, “The visit is a significant step towards enhancing regional integration and strengthening the bond between our institutions.

“ECOWAS Parliament has been instrumental in improving the lives of citizens in our community, and we must continue to work together to address the challenges we face.

“I look forward to continued collaboration and offer my support to your efforts”.

Speaker Ibrahima earlier expressed her appreciation for the Ambassador’s warm reception and reiterated the parliament’s commitment to work closely with the Commission to address issues within the sub-region.

She said that a new phase of collaboration between the two institutions have been born.

“I’d like to acknowledge the witness connected to the camera tap during the election. Thank you for your contribution. This marks the beginning of a new era, and I look forward to our collaboration. I’m optimistic that we’ll have a productive and successful working relationship as we embark on this responsibility together”, Speaker Ibrahima said.

The Speaker’s visit highlights the importance of regional integration and the need for collaborative efforts to achieve common goals in the ECOWAS community.
