How My Broken Marriage Revived My Career, I’m So Happy, Korra Obidi

Korra Obidi, the US-based Nigerian dancer, says separating from Justin Dean, her estranged husband, has impacted her career positively.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Heroes Diary podcast, Korra said marriage sometimes limits one’s opportunities in the entertainment industry.

The entertainer added that since she split from Dean, she has been “getting booked back to back”.

“One thing about we humans is that when somebody is married, I do not know you people do not like the person anymore,” she said.

“You kind of like go happy married life and then they say she can’t be on my show, she can’t be in my movie. But now I am single, I am getting booked back to back, so it is good for me. I think being single is good in the industry.”

The 32-year-old also tackled people criticising her over her failed marriage. She said she is “single and not searching”.

“I want to make a public service announcement. I’m not the only person that got married in Nigeria. My marriage was not even public. All you people saw was one post on Instagram that Korra is taken,” she said.

“You people are now carrying the marriage to tie my legs. It has been two years since my divorce, please leave me alone. I am single as a dollar bill and I am not searching. I have many boys that service me.”

Korra has been in the news since her marriage to the American man crashed in March 2022.

A few weeks after their divorce, Obidi accused Dean of stealing $5000 from their joint account.

In November 2022, she also alleged that Dean demanded spousal support from her.

Obidi claimed she paid half of her bride price. She also alleged she paid $50,000 to Dean to see her kids.

She was recently under fire on social media for announcing vacation plans to Hawaii — a few days after launching a GoFundMe account to settle a parental rights battle with her estranged husband.
