Police intensify manhunt for bandits after Katsina killings

The Katsina State Police Command said it remained resolute in its pursuit to arrest attackers following the brutal killing of 26 individuals in the state.

On June 9, 2024, the command confirmed that armed bandits launched attacks on Gidan Tofa village and Dan Nakwabo village, both situated in Kankara LGA, Katsina State.

The assailants claimed the lives of 20 people, injured two individuals, and ambushed an Armoured Personnel Carrier patrol team, resulting in the tragic deaths of four police officers and two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps.

In a phone interview with Saturday PUNCH, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, affirmed the command’s unwavering determination to bring the attackers of this heinous act to justice.

Despite no arrests have been made, Aliyu reassured the public that the police force was actively determined to apprehend the culprits.

He said, “We are still on it. No arrest made yet. We are intensifying efforts to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators no matter how long it is. We are going to pursue every lead to ensure there is an arrest.”
