Operatives of Shell Camp Divisional Headquarters of the Imo State Police Command, on Saturday, apprehended a suspected armed robber, Ogochukwu David, while on routine patrol in the early hours of Friday along Bank Road in Owerri.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, in a statement on Saturday, the suspect was nabbed while he and his gang were allegedly robbing a lady.
He said, “The operatives who sighted some hoodlums robbing a young lady, responded immediately, and arrested the suspect while others took to their heels. On searching the suspect, one locally made pistol was recovered in his possession.
“Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and the manufacturer of the locally-made gun. The suspect is undergoing a thorough investigation and will certainly have his day in court.”
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, while commending the officers for a job well done, tasked them to sustain the tempo in the fight against all forms of violent crimes.
“He urged the good people of Imo State to continue to support the police and other security agencies with actionable information that will assist in safeguarding the state as security is everybody’s business,” he said.
