Why President Tinubu Sacked BPP DG Mamman Ahmadu
In a significant move aimed at enhancing the efficiency and transparency of Nigeria’s public procurement system, President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Mamman Ahmadu from his role as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
Presidential Spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced the decision on Saturday, stating, “This is part of a larger reorganization effort in the public procurement system to reposition the agency for greater efficiency and transparency.”
Following Ahmadu’s removal, the President has directed that the most senior officer within the Bureau assume the role of acting Director-General until a new appointment is made. This transitional measure is intended to ensure continuity and stability within the agency during the interim period.
President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to Mamman Ahmadu for his dedicated service and contributions to the BPP. He extended his best wishes to Ahmadu for success in his future endeavors.
The reorganization of the BPP is seen as a critical step in President Tinubu’s broader agenda to reform key government institutions and improve public sector performance. By prioritizing efficiency and transparency in public procurement, the administration aims to enhance accountability and ensure that public resources are utilized effectively for the benefit of all Nigerians.

By Francesca Hangeior
The All Progressives Congress has congratulated the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on his re-election in the just-concluded governorship election.
Aiyedatiwa won the election, having polled a total of 366,781 votes across all 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
He defeated his closest rival — Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party, who got 117,845 votes.
In a statement issued by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Sunday, and made available to PUNCH Online, the party described Aiyedatiwa as a “clear attestation” that his administration’s policies “resonated deeply with the electorate.”

“Your Excellency’s resounding victory in the just-concluded Ondo State gubernatorial election is a clear attestation that your administration’s policies and programmes and campaign message of hope and consolidation have resonated deeply with the electorate.
