Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum.
He was among the sixteen Governors who attended the meeting in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
It should be noted that the late Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State chaired the forum until his death in 2023.
Following the meeting, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu, announced the Southern State Executives’ resolution, stating that the forum’s decision was unanimous and consistent with their belief in Abiodun’s leadership abilities to lead the forum successfully.
Governor Abiodun responded by expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him to take on the leadership of the forum, promising to lead with inclusiveness and efficiency.
He also stated that he would work closely with his deputy, Professor Charles Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, to address critical regional issues.
“This is a significant honour bestowed upon me by my esteemed colleagues, and I am deeply grateful for their trust in my leadership. Together, we will work to ensure quality governance across our states and to foster exceptional regional development in Southern Nigeria.
“I also congratulate my colleague, Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, wha has been elected as Vice Chairman,” he said
