As a result of the current strike by Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Adamawa, Premium Motor Spirit now sells for N2,000 per liter in Adamawa state.
Chairman of the Adamawa/Taraba chapter of IPMAN, Dahiru Buba has said that the ongoing strike stems from frequent harassment and illegal seizures of petrol-carrying tankers by Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) officers.
Buba noted that customs officers have shifted focus from border operations to targeting legitimate businesses in urban and rural areas, resulting in financial losses, fuel scarcity, and price hikes. He emphasized that the strike will persist until the NCS ceases these actions.
Naijablitznews.com reports that on June 10, NCS Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi urged stakeholders to support efforts against smuggling, particularly of petroleum products, which he described as detrimental to Nigeria’s economy.
