Just in: Police gives details on how popular Nollywood actor turned kidnapper, others were wasted
The police has given vivid details as to how popular Nollywood actor and producer turned kidnapper, Henry Asonna and others were wasted.
According to reports, he was shot by police in Lagos State during a kidnap attempt in Ladipo area of Lagos.
Reports further revealed that Asonna was killed during a gun duel with police operatives of the Lagos State Command when he and his kidnap gang went on a kidnap prowl in Lagos.
While speaking during a press conference, the Lagos State Command Spokesman, SP Benhamin Hundeyin, said police intelligence yielded very credible and actionable intelligence about a dangerous and very notorious gang of kidnappers planning to kidnap some high net worth individuals in Lagos.
According to him, “Upon receipt of this intelligence about two weeks ago, CP Fayoade directed the Command’s tactical teams to commence work on it. They followed up immediately closely, monitored dutifully and were able to determine that the gang was going to strike on Thursday at Ladipo area of Lagos State .
“With the benefit of this information, we were able to proactively prepare for them and more or less laid an ambush for them. The kidnappers who were caught unawares would not give up easily as they engaged the police officers in a shoot out. They of course bowed to the superior fire power of the police
“Nine of them were neutralized while two escaped with…..gunshot injuries. Four AK-47 rifles, four locally-made semi automatic pistols, nine AK 47 magazines, three walkie-talkies, one POS machine were recovered”.
Meanwhile, a post by a Nollywood actor, Stanley Ontop on his Instagram expressed shock that the Nollywood actor and producer is a kidnapper.
In his words, “Those of you that feel less of themselves, calm down, Gods time is the best. Look at this guy, this guy is a Nollywood producer. He is a very big Nollywood producer. Producer in the morning, Kidnaper in the night, Derico at night. And all of you will say, God when, when will I answer producer, producing my own movies. This, guy was shot dead when they went to kidnap a wealthy Lagosian, they didn’t know police have intelligence on them and mount police tactical team for them.
He also wrote on his page. “Wetin I dey hear so? Lagos Nollywood super producer way dey kidnap people. He’s a producer in the day time and Anini at night, Na yahoo”.
However, he called on Actors Guild of Nigeria, (AGN), to go ahead to ban all the movies he has produced, saying that it is big slap to Nollywood as an entertainment body.
Asonna who is an actor and a producer with Asonrich movies to his name has produced some movies which include, Love at the pool, My half New, My Half, Little Top Up,Blind Blood Full, among others.

“Na your papa Family or Inheritance? – Nigerians React As Ndume Begs Senate To Allow Ifeanyi Ubah’s Widow To Replace Him in senate
Some Nigerians have queried the lawmaker representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, who pleaded with the Senate to allow the widow of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to replace him as the representative of Anambra South Senatorial District.
Recall that Ndume had argued that it is necessary to preserve Ubah’s legacy and aspirations through his family.
Ndume made the appeal during the Valedictory session held on Tuesday in honour of the late senator.
Citing historical precedents, Ndume argued that such a move would honour the late senator’s contributions to the Senate and ensure continuity in representing his constituency.
However, Ndume’s suggestion earned him criticism from Nigerians, questioning if political offices are hereditary or family property.

What exactly is going on in this country? Who deemed her worthy to decide our fate in this country? Are we using sentiments now? Why can’t she go through the same process other senate went through? Be voted for. Did the people she wants to represent them say they want her? I’ve so many questions cos this is just something else”

@innocent wrote: “That you guys in the North and soon Lagos are now treating elected political positions as family inheritance which is why El rufai and so on have their families and kids in Federal Political offices. It does not mean South East tolerates such. Keep your monarchy system of government up there to yourselves.”

Pope Francis kicks as Russian invades Ukraine
***Says, action shameful disastrous
By Francesca Hangeior
Pope Francis marked 1,000 days since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine Wednesday, calling it a “shameful disaster for humanity” at an audience attended by First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
“Yesterday marked 1,000 days since the invasion of Ukraine. A tragic anniversary for the victims and the destruction it has caused,” the Argentine pope said at the end of his weekly general audience at the Vatican.
“But at the same time, (it is) a shameful disaster for all humanity,” he added in front of the thousands of faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square, where Zelenska sat with the first ladies of Armenia, Lithuania and Serbia.
He expressed his closeness to the “martyred Ukrainian people” and called for efforts “so that weapons give way to dialogue”.
Francis then read a letter addressed to him by a Ukrainian student in which he describes the war and how people are suffering.
Russia launched its full-scale attack on Ukraine in February 2022 and since then, the pope has frequently called for an end to the conflict.
