Council chairmanship election: PDP sweeps Adamawa’s 21 LGAs

Candidates of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State have been declared winners of the chairmanship election in all the 21 local government areas of the state.

The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) announced the result on Sunday, July 14.

The commission, which conducted the election on Saturday, July 13, released the results in the later hours of Sunday, giving the names of the chairman-elect for each of the LGAs.

The main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) did not participate in the election after criticisng the constitution of ADSIEC, saying they could not trust the commission to conduct a credible poll.

The commission said it could not force any party to present candidates, and had gone ahead to conduct the election after screening candidates presented by 12 political parties.
