Katsina Singer’s Mother Regains Freedom 18 Days After Abduction

The mother of the famous Hausa political singer, Dauda Adamu Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, has been released by bandits.

A family source told Channels Television on Wednesday that the 75-year-old woman identified as Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu was released after 18 days in captivity.

According to the source, the singer’s mother was immediately rushed to a hospital in Abuja shortly after her release on Tuesday evening for medical attention.

Although her health condition according to the source worsened when she was diagnosed with high blood pressure as a result of the abduction, wild jubilation broke out in Kahutu village, the hometown of the singer in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State, when the news of her release broke.

The bandits had earlier demanded the sum of one billion naira as a ransom before releasing the victim.

She was abducted on June 28, 2024, at her residence in Kahutu village. A source said that the Rarara’s mother was abducted at about 1:00 am, a few minutes after bandits in their numbers armed with AK-47 rifles invaded the village.

“The bandits stormed the village barefoot and operated for a few minutes. Upon their arrival in the village, the bandits went straight to the residence of the victim and picked only her, ignoring other people they met in the house.

In the wake of the abduction, police authorities in Katsina State said two suspects have been arrested for questioning.
