Two feared killed over monarchy tussle in Osun

Two persons have allegedly been killed as tussle over monarchy in Araromi-Owu, Ayedaade local government area of Osun State escalated into crisis in the community.

It was gathered that the situation has been developing since last week before it eventually snowballed into full blown crisis on Tuesday with razing of cars by aggrieved party in the tussle.

A resident in the community, Ismail Olaoye, also disclosed that mercenaries hired by the aggrieved party set burn fire on access road into the town to prevent security operatives from entering.

It was also gathered that some hoodlums waylaid a batch of security operatives deployed to the community inflicting injuries on some personnel.

Another resident, who pleaded anonymity disclosed that five persons have been killed in the crisis while houses and cars were set ablazed by the rampaging hoodlums on the ground that the monarch-designate for the community is not qualified.

“The aggrieved group were laying claim to the throne of the community when another person has been appointed and was in seclusion already. This sparked the violent protest for days before it degenerated into crisis”, the source added.

Confirming the incident, the Osun police command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola said mobile police force has been deployed to the town along with special police unit to restore peace.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Security, Barrister Samuel Ojo said only two casualties have been recorded not five as claimed by some sources.

He said the crisis would have been brutal if not for government intervention since some days ago.

“We have intervened into the situation since five days ago and manage that it does not become very brutal. Only two persons have been killed not five and presently, all the heada of security outfit in the state are already aware and working to restore law and order in the community”, he added.

More Nigerians, Others Deported By Libya Govt

Few months after many Nigerian were deported, the Department for Combating Illegal Migration in Libya has deported seven Nigerians, three Bangladeshis, and three Ghanaians detained at the Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Centre.

The deportees were flown out of Libya via Benina International Airport in Benghazi.

in a statement on their X handle on Tuesday, confirmed that these individuals were deported for violating Libyan law.

The statement read, “DCIM deported 13 migrants (3 Bangladeshis, 3 Ghanaians, and 7 Nigerians) from the Qanfoudah Immigration Detention Centre via Benina International Airport in Benghazi. All individuals, ,,,were deported for violating laws in force in the Libyan state.”

At the time of filing this report, total number of deported Nigerians still sketchy.

NNPC, Dangote Sign GSPA Agreement To Boost Local Production, Revamp Industrial Growth

The NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National d Gas Sale and Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, has successfully executed a Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE.

The agreement, according to a statement signed by NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye was undertaken by the Managing Director, NGML, Barr. Justat the Ezeala and the President/CEO of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote on Tuesday at Corporate Head Office of Dangote in Falomo, Lagos State, outlines the supply of natural gas for power generation and feedstock at the Dangote Refinery, in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

This major milestone is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policy of utilizing Nigeria’s abundant gas resources towards revamping the nation’s industrial growth and kickstarting its economic prosperity.

This development, which sees a huge investment of this nature penned with zero capital expenditure (CAPEX) outlay, has been described by many as unprecedented in the history of NGML or any gas Local Distribution Company (LDC) in the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, NGML will supply 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D), 5OMMSCF/D being firm supply and the rest 50MMSCF/D interruptible natural gas supply to the refinery for an initial period of 10 years, with options for renewal and growth.

This collaboration is a significant step toward ensuring the operational success of the Dangote Refinery and enhancing Nigeria’s domestic gas utilization.

NNPC Ltd, through NGML, its gas marketing subsidiary, continues to lead efforts in promoting the use of domestic gas to support industries and businesses nationwide.

The agreement represents a milestone for both NNPC Ltd and Dangote Refinery, aligning with their shared commitment to boosting local production and providing vital products for the benefit of all Nigerians.

It is also a further proof of NGML’S unwavering commnitment to business excellence and fulfilling NNPC Ltd’s core mandate of ensuring Nigeria’s energy security through the execution of strategic gas projects across the country.
