The district head was abducted on Saturday along with his son at Kwanan Maharba in the Sabon Birni area on his way home from Sokoto, the state capital.

The district head was abducted on Saturday along with his son at Kwanan Maharba in the Sabon Birni area on his way home from Sokoto, the state capital.
SaharaReporters learnt that the bandits blocked the highway and fired two shots at the district head’s vehicle before whisking him and his son into the forest.
The bandits reportedly withstood initial resistance by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
Sirajo Isah, a son of the abducted monarch said, “My father was returning home from Sokoto when the bandits attacked his vehicle at Kwanan Maharba around Sabon Birni and abducted him with my brother.
“The bandits engaged in a hot crossfire with security forces of the mobile police before taking my father and brother away after firing two shots at his vehicle.”
Isah, who commended the bravery of the police operatives, urged the authorities to rescue his father and sibling unhurt.
In a separate raid shortly after the district head’s abduction, five other persons were reported to have been kidnapped at the same spot.
The spokesperson for the police in Sokoto State, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i has confirmed the district head’s abduction to journalists.
He however assured that efforts were underway to secure the release of the victims.
