Kogi gov candidate plans to appeal Ododo’s victory at S’Court

Following the recent Appeal Court’s judgment in Abuja, which upheld the Tribunal’s verdict against the Action Alliance governorship candidate in the November 2023 election in Kogi State, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, the applicant, has vowed to go to the Supreme Court to seek justice.

This decision was contained in a statement issued on Friday following the Appeal Court’s verdict of the penultimate Thursday affirming Governor Ododo as the duely elected governor of Kogi State at the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

Braimoh, in his reaction, had stated, “I believe that this is the only way to ensure victory for democracy and the people of Kogi State.”

He stressed that the evidence provided by his team clearly showed how the election process was manipulated by both the ruling party – the All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission, even as he maintained that he had hoped that the Appeal Court would have upturned Tribunal’s earlier verdict.

Braimoh said, “Our decision to take this case to the Supreme Court demonstrates our unwavering commitment to upholding democracy and fighting against electoral malpractice. We believe that the people of Kogi State deserve a fair and transparent election process, free from manipulation and interference. By pursuing this case at the highest court in the land, we are sending a clear message that we will not back down in our quest for justice and accountability.

“Our determination to seek justice at the Supreme Court also highlights our belief in the rule of law and the importance of upholding the integrity of the electoral process.”

He added, “Despite facing setbacks at the lower courts, we remain resolute in our belief that the truth will prevail and that the people of Kogi State will ultimately have their voices heard,” Braimoh maintained.

He noted further, “In taking this case to the Supreme Court, we are not only fighting for his own candidacy but also for the future of democracy in Kogi State.
