As the nationwide hunger protest, tagged #EndBadGovernance enters its third day, the Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has addressed the protesters, commending them for conducting a peaceful march in the state.
While addressing the protesters at the Unity Bridge in Yola, the state capital on Saturday, the governor acknowledged the citizens’ right to a peaceful protest, saying, “In democracy there is room for people to ventilate their grievances and tell the government at all levels their feelings, the aggregate of this is what you’re telling us today.”
While acknowledging the hardship in the country, Governor Fintiri urged the Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government “to urgently rejig its welfare policies in order to address the current hardship in the country.”
He however pleaded with the protesters to continue to conduct themselves peacefully, while assuring that his government would continue to ameliorate the suffering of the masses within its limited resources.
The governor was represented by the Secretary of the state government (SSG), Awwal Tukur.
Earlier in their separate remarks, leaders of the protesters, Abdullahi Isa and Daniel Godwin presented their demands to include the restoration of fuel subsidy among other things.u To Rejig Policies
