State hired protesters attack FCT minister, Wike’s residence in Rivers

Expectedly, state hired protesters on Tuesday attacked residence of FCT, minister, Nyesom Wike.

This was expected as a clear directive was reportedly given to some conveners of the protest in the state to attack targeted properties by the state government last Thursday.

This development is coming on Day 6 of the nationwide protests against hunger, just after President Bola Tinubu appealed to protesters to suspend the protests.

While the protests seem to have died down in the FCT, the street processions picked up in Port Harcourt on Tuesday as protesters approached the private residence of Wike in Port Harcourt.

A viral video on social media captured a huge crowd of protesters singing the national anthem as they laid siege to the former governor’s residence in the state capital.

However, in swift response, the Nigerian Police Force deployed additional personnel to the area to maintain order and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Wike is yet to respond to the attack.
