FG lifts suspension on Arik Airline operations

The Federal Government has withdrawn the suspension it placed on Arik Air’s operations and has allowed it to resume flights with immediate effect. The airline was suspended by the FG on Tuesday, July 30, following a dispute between Arik Air and Atlas Petroleum.

This was contained in a statement on X by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, on Wednesday, August 8. Achimugu said the dispute was amicably resolved.

“It is in this regard that the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, and the DG of NCAA, Capt. Chris Najomo, finally resolved the impasse between Arik Air and Atlas Petroleum,” Achimugu said. “By that resolution, Arik Air will start operations today.”

This quick resolution underlines the commitment of the Ministry of Aviation and the NCAA to having safe and secure air travel in Nigeria. Already, passengers of Arik Air have commenced checking in for their various booked flights as the airline returns to full operation.

It is, thus, a great relief to commuters, and the aviation industry would heave a sigh of relief as Arik Air resumes its operation, which was grounded following the face-off that resulted in the withdrawal of services by the airline.
