Lecturer, Deputy Registrar, other people killed by gunmen in latest ambush

Police in Taraba State reported that gunmen killed several passengers, including a lecturer from the Federal University Wukari and the deputy registrar of the Taraba State School of Health Technology, Takum, along the Takum-Wukari road early Monday morning.

DSP Kwache Gambo, the acting Police Public Relations Officer for the Taraba police command, confirmed the tragic incident in a telephone interview.

According to reports, six passengers and their driver were ambushed and killed at a boundary area between Taraba and Benue states along the Takum-Wukari road.

Among the victims was a secondary school principal who had recently been transferred from a school in Takum to another in Wukari Local Government Area. The principal was on his way to report at his new post when the attack occurred.

The lecturer from Federal University Wukari was reportedly returning to Wukari after spending the weekend with his family in Takum when he was killed.

The killings have caused significant tension in Takum town, as all the victims were said to be residents of the area.

In response, soldiers have been deployed to patrol key areas around the town in an effort to restore calm and prevent further violence.
