Thierry Henry has announced his departure as head coach of the France Under 21 team, citing personal reasons.
The legendary French striker, who took the reins in 2020, led the team to a silver medal at the Olympic Games and expressed his gratitude to the federation, players, staff, and supporters.
Henry’s decision comes as a shock to the French football community, with many praising his contributions to the team’s success. The former Arsenal and Barcelona star had been widely regarded as one of the most promising young coaches in the sport.
“I am incredibly grateful to the federation, the players, the staff, and the supporters who allowed me to live a magical experience,” Henry said in a statement. “Winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games for my country will remain one of the greatest prides of my life.”
