Former First Lady, Michelle Obama and former president of the United States of America Barack Obama among other prominent Democrats and celebrities will address the Democratic National Convention in Chicago ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Both Michelle and Barack Obama speeches have been slated for Tuesday.
Democratic National Convention which starts from Monday, August 19 to Thursday, August 22 among other things will outdoored Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepting her party’s nomination for president and confirm running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
This year’s DNC is taking place at the United Center Arena in Chicago.
The themes and top speakers listed by the DNC for the four-day programme.
According to them, Monday will be focusing on ‘For the people’ and speakers will include Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who will deliver a welcome message, Biden, first lady Jill Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Tuesday: ‘A bold vision for America’s future’ will see speakers like Illinois Governor Jay Robert “JB” Pritzker, Ms Harris’s husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Former First Lady, Michelle Obama and former president of the United States of America Barack Obama.
On Wednesday, the Democrats will tackle ‘A fight for our freedoms’ which will see speakers include former President Bill Clinton and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz and others.
The Democrats will climax the 2024 Democratic National Convention with the topic “For Our Future” where Vice-President Kamala Harris will formally accept the presidential nomination and address the nation.
About fifty thousand (50,000) people including delegates chosen by state Democratic parties as well as super delegates.
