INEC lists 2629025 voters to elect next Edo gov

The successor of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki will be elected on September 21 by 2,629,025 voters, provided they collect Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

This was made known yesterday at Edo State headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at Aduwawa, Benin by INEC’s Supervising National Commissioner for Edo, Delta and Cross River states, Prof. Rhoda Gumus.

The well-attended event was the presentation of voter registers for the governorship election to the chairmen of the 16 participating parties.

Gumus said: “In line with the Electoral Act, 2022, INEC must present the voter registers to the chairmen of the political parties, not later than 30 days to the election. We are trying to obey the law, and carrying out the 10th of the 13th activities scheduled for Edo governorship election.’’
