Isaac Bristol, widely known as the whistleblower and microblogger PIDOMNigeria, is reportedly in critical condition after being denied medical attention by the Nigeria Police Force. Sources revealed that Bristol’s health has significantly deteriorated due to untreated injuries sustained while in custody.
Bristol was arrested on August 5, 2024, by officials from the National Cybercrime Centre for alleged involvement in cyber-related offences. The police have since stated that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing regarding several accusations against him.
However, reports have surfaced indicating that Bristol is being subjected to inhuman treatment at the Force headquarters, where he is held in solitary confinement. Sources disclosed that his injuries have worsened and are now festering due to a lack of medical care.
“Isaac’s health condition has worsened; the injuries on his body are festering,” a source close to the situation told SaharaReporters on Friday. “He has been neglected by his assigned Investigating Police Officer (IPO) and repeatedly denied hospital visits by the CP (Commissioner of Police Uche) despite being scheduled for it.
The source added that Bristol appears “very sick, bony, and weak” and is isolated from other detainees, with fellow inmates reportedly instructed by police authorities not to communicate with or assist him in any way.
Concerns have grown for Bristol’s well-being, with some fearing that he may be on the verge of death if immediate medical intervention is not provided. The source called on well-meaning Nigerians to intervene, urging the Nigerian police to prevent further harm to the whistleblower.
