Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole has mocked current governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and his wife, Betsy Obaseki, saying they’re childless couple.
According to a video posted by Television Continental (TVC) on its X handle on Sunday, Oshiomhole alleged that the Obasekis are childless.
This statement reportedly came in response to comments made by Betsy Obaseki, who had purportedly said that Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, does not have a wife.
In the video, Oshiomhole alleged that Governor Godwin Obaseki and his wife, Betsy, chose not to adopt any children, claiming that they do not have an affection for children.
“I was shocked yesterday to see Mrs. Obaseki, the first lady, saying that our candidate has no wife. She is the most, I’m sorry that she has to say that, because here is a woman who has no child. Between him and Obaseki, they have no child, they are childless,” he said.
“They are even not ready to adopt. I mean, I don’t blame, anybody should not have a child. But people who have love for children, they go to motherless home and adopt children.
“They have not adopted, they are both in their 60s. So you married, I don’t know whether it’s a contract or whatever it is, but they have no child.”
Oshiomhole’s remarks against Obaseki whose tenure is less six months come amidst the September 21 governorship election in the state where political heavyweights in the state including Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – the ruling party in the state, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC, Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) among other candidates.
