By Kayode Sanni-Arewa

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque unveiled that Saudi Arabia is currently considering the development of a new transportation system to boost pilgrims’ experiences.

Designed to provide comfortable and seamless experiences for the guests of Allah, the initiative mainly aims at enhancing overall mobility at the two Holy Mosques and thus facilitating the performance of rituals.

The General Authority announced that it has already started to receive applications from those interested in expressing their suggestions and ideas regarding the project. It indicated that the proposed transportation solution will basically concentrate on making the performance of the tawaf and Sa’i rituals smoother and easier.

The transportation system should suit the exceptional environment of the Grand Mosque and provide smooth spiritual experiences to 100,000 pilgrims per day during peak seasons by raising the operational efficiency of transportation means.

The project also aims to decrease the time required to perform rituals and promote overall pilgrim satisfaction from the current 78% to over 90% as measured by the CAST standard and performance centre indices.

As part of Saudi Vision 2030, the newly launched initiative will make a difference in Hajj and Umrah journeys from booking to ritual completion through reducing waiting times and streamlining procedures for accessing services.

Thus, it promises a more satisfied and fulfilling pilgrimage experience for all visitors.
