The Nigerian military successfully foiled an attempt by terrorists to destroy Department of State Services (DSS) assets in Niger State.
The intervention was led by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), utilizing Super Tucano fighter jets to carry out airstrikes that eliminated dozens of insurgents.
A defense intelligence source confirmed to PRNigeria that the terrorists were prevented from causing extensive damage to DSS facilities in the Bassa community of Shiroro, a local government area in the state.
The air assault resulted in the death of at least 30 insurgents, significantly diminishing the terrorist threat.
The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that military forces acted swiftly on intelligence reports indicating an impending ambush on DSS personnel and their assets.
“The prompt deployment of the Super Tucano jets was critical to the mission’s success. The airstrikes were highly effective, with minimal casualties reported among the DSS operatives,” the source stated.
