A staff of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ibrahim M., popularly known as Chocho’s body, has lost his life while rescuing flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State.
His body was discovered on Thursday, as reported by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.
In a post on X, Makama stated, “Ibrahim M. aka Chocho’s body was found today. He died while rescuing flood victims along Lagos Street. He died with honour. RIP.”
It was earlier reported that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has reported that the recent flooding in Maiduguri has displaced over 400,000 people and resulted in at least 30 fatalities.
NEMA spokesperson Manzo Ezekiel confirmed that the flood has forced more than 100,000 individuals into internally displaced persons (IDP) camps.
Ezekiel further noted that NEMA and its partners are actively working to support the victims and facilitate their safe return to their homes once the floodwaters recede.
