Notorious Boko Haram fighter surrenders to troops in Borno

A notorious Boko Haram commander, Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State.

Abacha had participated in several operations by the terror group along the Mongunu-Baga axis.

Spokesman of MNJTF in N’Djamena, Tchad, Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba, said in a statement yesterday that Abacha had disclosed his escape from the group’s camp in the Mussaram with his weapon.

He said: “Abacha confessed to have surrendered due to the intense operation of the MNJTF and lack of interest. He said he escaped from a Boko Haram camp in Mussaram with his weapon.

“Items recovered from Abacha, according to MNJTF spokesman, include one AK 47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, one mobile phone, an Airtel SIM card and the sum of thirty two thousand five hundred naira.

“Abacha is presently providing valuable intelligence to the authorities.”
