The Elders Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has issued a public apology to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, over the ongoing dispute between him and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his successor.
Boma Iyaye, the Executive Director of Finance at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), delivered the apology during an event organized by the Rivers State Ijaw Peoples Congress in Port Harcourt.
Iyaye expressed regret over Governor Fubara’s actions, which he characterized as disrespectful towards Wike.
“We apologize for what our son has done to you. It is not in our nature to repay good with evil. You have done a lot for us, and we will always remain grateful,” Iyaye said.
He also urged Wike not to withdraw his support from the Ijaw people due to Fubara’s behavior, emphasizing Wike’s key role in helping the Ijaw people secure the governorship of Rivers State for the first time.
“Please, do not let our son’s actions drive you away. You made it possible for us to achieve the governorship,” he added.
Ferdinard Anabraba, Chairman of the Elders Forum, echoed these sentiments, criticizing Fubara’s administration while reaffirming the Ijaw people’s loyalty to Wike.
“The current situation in the Rivers State government does not reflect the opinion of the Ijaw people. You remain the most celebrated Ijaw politician with national recognition,” Anabraba said.
