Delta State Police Command has invited a former Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Patrick Muoboghare, as accomplice over alleged terrorism and gun running.
Also invited over the said allegations are some community leaders of Uwheru Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area, including one Mr. Obukohwo Ekpevwru, said to be the primary suspect under investigation.
Others invited include the President General of Uwheru Kingdom, Chief Macpherson Igbedi and nine others.
A copy of the invitation letter addressed to Mr. Obukohwo Ekpevwru, dated September 25, 2024, was sighted by our correspondent on Saturday.
The invitation with Ref No CR: 3422/DTS/X-SQD/VOL3/172 and titled “Police Invitation Letter Re: Case Of Acts Of Terrorism, Illegal Possession Of Firearms, Gun Running, Criminal Intimidation, Dealings In Illicit Substance And Conduct Likely To Cause Breach Of The Peace” was signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of X-Squad Unit, Lucky Adagbon.
The former commissioner (Muoboghare) and other invitees are being summoned to appear before the Command’s headquarters, Asaba at 11am Monday.
The letter read, “This office is investigating the above mentioned case in which you and others were alleged. In the same vein, you are requested to come for an interface with the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Asaba, through the Office of the X-Squad Unit, Asaba, on Monday 30th September, 2024 at 1100hrs prompt.

It was gathered that the police invitation is on the heels of an internal crisis between the traditional ruler of Uwheru Kingdom and some leaders of the area.
When contacted, Prof Muoboghare, who was Commissioner for Higher Education under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, confirmed the development, but declined details on the issue.
