The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has suspended the secretary to the Kano State Government, Abdullahi Bichi and the state’s Commissioner for Transport, Muhammed Diggo, over what was referred to as abuse of power.
This suspension took place on Monday night.
Confirming the development, the party chairman in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa claimed that the suspension happened after petitions were gotten from party leaders in Bichi North where both officials come from.
“We are announcing today that we have suspended the SSG, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and the Commissioner of Transportation, Muhammad Diggol, over abuse of power, office, and disloyalty to the party,” Dungurawa stated.
“We commend the leadership of the party from their wards and the Local Government for bringing the issue to us. Their effort in documenting and submitting the concerns in writing facilitated the investigation and decision-making process.”
While speaking with Channels TV, the Director-General of Information, Sanusi Bature said that the suspended duo had been undermining the leadership and structure of the party and with confirmations of allegations from the local leadership writing a formal complaint, the suspension “became inevitable”.
This development is despite the fact that the Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf was quoted as mediating between the party and the now suspended members to resolve internal grievances.
