According to a senior police officer, Chief J. Noe Diaz during a news conference, four people were on board, including a child.

He disclosed that there were multiple deaths when the private helicopter crashed on Sunday night.

The helicopter crash in Houston’s Second Ward neighborhood triggered a large fire that spread across three blocks, officials confirmed, NBC reports

The incident occurred around 7:54 p.m. local time.

According to initial reports from the Houston Fire Department, the helicopter struck a radio tower before bursting into flames. Fortunately, businesses in the area were closed at the time, minimizing potential casualties.

Authorities have not disclosed the identities of those on board.

He described the helicopter as a Robinson R44 that had taken off from Ellington Field. Its destination was not immediately known.
