The Borno State Police Command has apprehended six members of a notorious syndicate involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, and extortion in the Magumeri and Konduga Local Government Areas.
Daso revealed that the police recovered N2,637,000 from the suspects, who had been extorting villagers under the pretense of tax collection.
“The Borno State Police Command, led by CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal psc, has achieved a significant milestone in its efforts to combat crime with the arrest of these six individuals,” the statement noted.
On October 25, 2024, following a credible tip-off, the Command Crack Squad conducted a covert operation in Chingowa Village, Konduga LGA, leading to the arrest of Modu Bindimi (26), Koso Modu Gana (24), Kassim Bulama (27), Isah Muhammed (21), Zarami Fantami (22), and Modu Bunu (24).
The suspects were found with a pump-action gun, a live cartridge, and N2,637,000 in cash. Investigations revealed that the syndicate was responsible for numerous armed robberies and kidnappings in the Magumeri and Konduga areas, as well as extorting money from villagers under the guise of tax payments to protect them from criminal acts.
The suspects have confessed to their crimes and will face charges after further investigation.
