Anti-party: Badaru becoming liability to our party, APC group tells President Tinubu
By Kayode Sanni-Arewa
One of the leading support groups of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections, the APC Solidarity Vanguard, has called on President Bola Tinubu, to reign on his Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, to stop sabotaging the party.
The Vanguard said the ex-Governor of Jigawa State has been hobnobbing with top stakeholders of the opposition parties in the north, which it describes as unhealthy and of great danger to the ruling party.
A statement signed on Sunday by the Chairman of the APC Solidarity Vanguard, Jigawa chapter, Alhaji Salisu Yakubu, said Badaru was fast becoming a liability to the party, at both national and state levels, hence he should be called to order.
Yakubu said, aside his unimpressive outings as the Minister of Defence, Badaru is sabotaging the party in Jigawa state with his constant engagements, both in the open and in secret, with leaders of the opposition parties.
“Just few days ago, we read in the news that Badaru is not only engaging with members of opposition from Jigawa State, he has also spread his tentacles to other states in the North East and North West, with constant meetings.
“A man who heads such a sensitive ministry like defence should be an upright man. With constant engagements with members of the opposition, we believe Badaru should not be trusted.
“We understand that, after elections or politics, comes governance, but we should be mindful of the fact that someone entrusted with such sensitive position is not just an ordinary Nigerian that should be seen everywhere and with everyone. The enemies of Nigeria are still here and waiting endlessly to see that the Renewed Hope Agenda of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu fails.
“Security is the main focal point of this administration and the man who is spare heading the sector is grossly involved in anti party activities and this could cost the President and the APC our 2027 elections.
“Like it was referenced in the said statement we read from the APC Support Group for the 2023 General Elections in Jigawa State, some notable northerners betrayed Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with anti party activities which cost him the reelection in 2015. They were given sensitive positions under Jonathan but were working secretly for Buhari.
“We don’t want a repeat of what happened to President Jonathan in 2015, that’s why we are begging our dear President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to quickly call Badaru to order.
“We in Jigawa State are fully for Asiwaju and APC and no amount of influence can change our mind. We stood by Asiwaju in 2023, even when same elements, after meeting with delegation from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, wanted us to vote for the PDP presidential candidate. But we stood out ground”, the statement read in part.

PDP leaders, critical stakeholders endorse Hon. Teejay Yusuf for National Chairman
Key political figures and critical stakeholders from the North Central region of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rallied behind Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf as their preferred candidate for the party’s next National Chairman.
The endorsement comes from the group known as the PDP Conscience Vanguard, who believe Yusuf is the key to uniting and revitalizing the main opposition party
In a statement issued on Thursday in Lokoja, the North Central Coordinator of the group, Isaiah Akoh, emphasized that Hon. Yusuf possesses the experience, leadership qualities, charisma, extensive connections necessary to lead the PDP towards unity and strategic repositioning.
The statement outlined several reasons for their endorsement of Hon. Yusuf, particularly noting that the party’s future success lies in having a chairman from the North Central region.
The group pointed to his extensive political background and ability to bridge gaps within the party, especially in light of the challenges the PDP faces.
“We believe that Hon. Teejay Yusuf is the right candidate at this crucial moment,” the statement reads. “Yusuf is not merely a legislator; he is an experienced statesman with a proven track record. Serving three terms as the representative of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and political acumen.”

Enugu ready to provide evidence against Ekpa, hails arrest
Enugu State Government has hailed the Government of the Republic of Finland for the arrest of the Finland-based leader of the criminal gang, Autopilots, Simon Ekpa, describing him as a common criminal, con man, and terrorist, who has no interest of Igbo people at heart.
The government also described Ekpa as a murderer and fraudster, who delights in killing his people and living large off their misery, saying that Enugu State was ready and willing to provide evidence of Ekpa-sponsored atrocities against Ndigbo to aid his trial and conviction, whether in Finland or Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on Friday.
“The Enugu State Government welcomes the arrest of the Finland-based terrorist, Simon Ekpa.
“His arrest and trial will no doubt go a long way in strengthening peace, security, and stability in all parts of the South East.
“This arrest is in line with the demand of Governor Peter Mbah Administration, which has repeatedly made it known that Ekpa is a megalomaniac, common criminal, murderer, and fraudster, who takes joy in feeding fat on the manipulated emotions of Ndigbo and inflicting misery on the South East region.

“Ekpa has for long, and unfortunately from Finland, made a living by creating a siege climate and mentality in the South East, destroying lives, property, and the Igbo trademark of entrepreneurship and hard work. He thrives on manipulating, exploiting, and extorting the people on the pretext of fighting for their interest and for the restoration of Biafra,” the government said.
