The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared insights on why believers should refrain from praying against their enemies.
Speaking at the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service at the Throne of Grace in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, he noted that only those with significant destinies attract envy.
Adeboye emphasized that praying against one’s enemies is illogical, referencing Psalms 23:5, which speaks of God preparing a table before one’s enemies. He posed the question: “If you pray against your enemies, who will be there to celebrate your successes?”
Instead of wishing harm upon adversaries, he encouraged believers to pray for their repentance. He advised that envy is a sign of greatness, stating, “If you are being envied, it means you have to be great. If you pray for your enemy’s demise, who will celebrate with you?”
Reflecting on his own life, Adeboye shared his amazement at God’s mercy and elevation despite his humble beginnings. He recounted an experience from a recent trip to an African country for a crusade, where he initially thought he would not meet the president.
However, upon learning of Adeboye’s presence, the president insisted on a meeting that lasted five hours, underscoring the unexpected privileges God had granted him.
