Navy announces recruitment for basic training school

The Nigerian Navy has commenced recruitment exercise for interested and qualified applicants into Batch 37 of its basic training school.

According to a notice by the Navy secretary, the exercise starts from November 15 to December 20, 2024, while the recruitment aptitude test will hold on January 18, 2024, at designated centres nationwide.

It stated that applicants must be Nigerian by birth with not less than 1.69 metres in height for males and 1.65 metres for females, and must posses a National Identification Number (NIN), adding that they must be medically, psychologically and physically fit, while never having been convicted of a crime by a court of law.

Applicants with O’Level/SSCE must be between the ages of 18 and 22-years-old as at December and must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English Language in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB no older than 2018.

Those with OND/NCE must be between 18 and 26-years-old, while those for Chaplain/Imam assistant and drivers/mechanic must be between 18 and 28-years-old as at December 31, 2024, with a minimum of five credits including Mathematics and English Language in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB no older than 2014.

The navy advised prospective candidates to apply online free of charge at “joinnigeriannavy.com“, and warned that, “only a single valid application is permitted, multiple online applications shall be disqualified.”

The statement added that upon completion of the application, applicants are to also print out the acknowledgement form, parent/guardian form, guarantor’s certificate form and local government attestation form which must be signed by a military officer of the rank of commander in the navy, or equivalent in the AFN or local government chairman.

Stating that successful applicants will undergo basic military training and on completion and will be enlisted into the navy as Ordinary Seamen, it warned that inability of any applicant to communicate in basic English Language will be disqualified at any stage of the recruitment process.
