Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his pleasure over the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ondo State governorship election, which saw Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa re-elected in a decisive win.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari congratulated Aiyedatiwa and praised the electorate for their overwhelming support.
“The voters have clearly and emphatically expressed their confidence in both the party and the governor. Their decision, as reflected in the ballot, should be respected by all stakeholders,” Buhari said.
The former president emphasized that the outcome of the election demonstrated the resilience of Nigeria’s democracy, despite the country’s large and diverse population.
However, Buhari urged the Governor-elect to focus on addressing key challenges, including economic growth, high unemployment, inflation, and the implementation of welfare programs to improve the lives of citizens.
Buhari also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies for improving the electoral process and addressing issues seen in previous elections, leading to a more seamless experience this time.
Wishing Governor Aiyedatiwa a successful term, Buhari encouraged him to build on his accomplishments and continue serving the people of Ondo State with commitment and dedication.
