Ambassador Zakari, who died at the age of 81 in Abuja, was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s intelligence community and diplomatic circles.

He served as the Director-General of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) between 1995 and 1998 and held key positions in Nigeria’s foreign affairs and anti-terrorism efforts.

His funeral in Katsina was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Katsina State Governor and the Emir of Katsina.

Despite being in good health during the journey to his father’s burial in Katsina, Mubarak, who shared a close relationship with his father, reportedly found the emotional toll of the loss too much to bear.
