How security taskforce of Man ‘O War stopped sch kids from embarking on violent clash in Ibadan

An intelligence-based operation carried out by the Operation Stay-in-School Security Task Force of Man O’ War, Ibadan South-West Local Government in the early hour today, led to the apprehension of a number of secondary school students in the capital of Oyo State.

This operation which took place on the early hours of today, Monday 18th November 2024, was part of the programmes of Comdr Yekeen Lukman the Oyo State Commander, and is aimed at ensuring safety and security within educational institutions in Oyo State.

The students, whose ages range from 15 to 18 years, were caught with knives, machetes, axe and other weapons, raising concerns about the growing trend of violence among youths in the state. However, the organisation is committed to ensuring that schools remain safe environments for learning, using its community-based approach of intelligence gathering and leadership training spread and presence in all the Local Government Areas of the state.

While speaking on the incident, Deputy Superintendent AbdulWaasi Ayodeji, the Ibadan South-West Area Commander of the organisation, urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and to educate their children on the dangers of wandering during school hours.

He also emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activities to prevent further incidents. As investigations continue, the command is working closely with school officials and other law enforcement agencies to implement measures that will deter such behavior in the future.

The students and the items retrieved from them have since been surrendered to the appropriate authorities.
