I inspired Burna Boy, he can’t deny it – Skales

Nigerian singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has claimed that he inspired his colleague, Burna Boy, at some point in his career.

Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Skales claimed that before he featured Burna Boy on ‘Temper Remix’ in 2017, the Port Harcourt-born singer had no hit song.

He, however, added that Burna Boy has also inspired him over the years.

He explained that the essence of collaboration is to support and promote each other.

“I inspired Burna Boy. He will agree with me. So, nobody help anybody. We probably admire ourselves and we decide to work together.

“As at then, Burna boy had no hot song before I featured him on ‘Temper Remix.’

“It was after our collaboration that he started excelling. I’m not trying to take credit for his success but he has inspired me over the years and I believe I inspired him at a point, too,” Skales said.

Kanayo defends Davido’s controversial statement on Nigerian economy

Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has backed singer, Davido’s controversial remarks on Nigeria’s economy.

Davido had during his appearance on ‘The Big Homies House’ podcast in the US, highlighted Nigeria’s challenges, saying that “It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles.”

Davido stated this while advising Black Americans against relocating to Nigeria.

His remarks which didn’t sit well with many Nigerians, have continued to be a subject of criticism, with some demanding an apology from him.

Responding to the controversy, Kanayo defended the singer’s right to free speech, stating that Davido made the comments to speak for the poor Nigerians amid the country’s economic hardship.

Kanayo in a video shared on Instagram said; “@davido spoke his mind, isn’t it? Respect his views too. The Adelek’s can feed for life but it will be unholy if they assume all is ok because they are OK.

“Make una leave Davido alone over the comment he made. It is freedom of speech and he made the statement in good faith. It is left for those in power to work harder to give us a better Nigeria.

“Some people say he should apologize, for what? Those who criticize us want the best out of us. Davido speaks for other Nigerians who cannot feed.”

After comment on Nig’s economy, Davido adorns nation flag as cap to interview

Davido has decided to put ‘Nigeria on his head’ after he was called out for a recent interview abroad where he spoke about the poor state of Nigeria’s economy.

The singer shared a photo of him wearing a durag in the colour of the Nigerian flag.

“I Dey go do interview nw … fully representing (Nigeria). Say make I kuku put am for head.”

Gospel singer Sinach sued for N5bn over hit song ‘Way Maker’

Popular gospel musician, Sinach has been sued by music producer Michael Oluwole over alleged copyright infringement.

Oluwole, better known as Maye, sued Sinach for N5 billion over ‘Way Maker’, her 2016 hit song.

In the suit numbered FHC/L/CS/402/2024, Maye is seeking a declaration that he is an author and co-owner of the song, and demanded general damages of N5 billion for cumulative infringement of his rights.

While denying the producer’s claims, Sinach, who claimed the sole authorship of the song, noted that she has achieved global recognition before ‘Way Maker’ song .

The trial, which began at the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday November 27, 2024, was adjourned until January 29 and 30, 2025.
