Veteran musician King Sunny Ade, the veteran juju singer, is set to make a special appearance in Toyin Abraham‘s forthcoming film ‘Alakada! Bad and Boujee’.
The movie, scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 20, is the fifth installment in the popular ‘Alakada’ series.
‘Alakada! Bad and Boujee’ is a comedy that follows the story of Yetunde, portrayed by Abraham. Yetunde is a young woman grappling with feelings of inadequacy. She navigates her world by weaving elaborate tales about her social status to mask her insecurities.
Abraham recently took to Instagram to share a video of the 78-year-old singer arriving at the film location.
She expressed her gratitude for KSA’s presence, saying that getting him to be in the film is a “cherished dream achieved” through her husband Kola Ajeyemi’s encouragement.
“A Cherished Dream Achieved: King Sunny Adé in Alakada Bad and Boujee. I’m thrilled to announce that my dream has come true!” she wrote.
“Despite initial doubts, my husband’s encouragement propelled me to pursue my dream relentlessly.
“Daddy wá, Sir King Sunny Adé, thank you for being part of this project! Your presence is a testament to your enduring legacy. May God continue to bless and elevate you. Get ready, Alakada is poised to become a cultural phenomenon!”
KSA is regarded as one of the first African pop musicians to gain international success and has been called one of the most influential musicians of all time.
