19 Years After, Encomiums On Ibori For Legacy Projects

The President-General of Arhavbarien community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state Olorogun Nap E. Ogilo, has eulogized former Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, for building lasting infrastructure while he was governor of the oil-rich State.

This was contained in a letter dated 13 May 2024, addressed to the former governor who served under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) between 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.

Olorogun Ogilo, with the traditional title of ‘the Emudiaga of Arhavwarien”, kingdom in a letter penned down to Ibori, expressed gratitude to his administration for building enduring legacies which have outlived his administration many years after.

The PG, revealed that till date, the road has no potholes compared to roads built by previous administrations with a lifespan of six months with huge taxpayers money awarded as cola-nut contracts to loyal boys and card carrying members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Parts of the letter reads: “Your Excellency, you did it before as the Executive Governor of Delta State when you awarded the contract for the construction of the road to Arhavwarien in the year 2005 to HiTech Construction Company Limited.

“That road your Excellency, is still standing tall and strong with no pot holes from Ewhu to Arhavbarien River Bank to date.

“This is one of your several foot prints and legacies in Urhobo land. The people of Arhavwarien are very proud of you and ever grateful to you.

“You have again promised to do it for us and we believe and trust you that it is done because You are talk na do. God bless you”.

He expressed hope that he would meet with Chief Ibori in no distant time while thanking him for the fight to put the Urhobo Nation in the world map again.

Hear him: “Words are insufficient to express my profound gratitude for what you’ve done in the past and what you are currently doing for the Urhobo Nation especially your strong and unwavering interest and commitment to reposition the Urhobo Nation politically and economically.

“May Almighty God continue to give you excellent health wisdom, knowledge and understanding to continue the selflessness to pivot the affairs of the Urhobo Nation to greater heights in the years ahead-God being your helper”, he said.

He prayed God to strengthen Chief Ibori than ever and keep him in the path of honor, making him to surmount barriers and come out brighter for the State and the Urhobo Nation.

In another development, Comrade Austin Oyibode, a journalist renowned for his inhouse style and publisher of Emerald News, lent his voice to the work of Chief Ibori, who is fondly addressed as “The Odidigborigbo of Africa”.

According to the online media practitioner, he was shocked to see a road linking his village still intact after many years of Ibori’s government.

Said he: “Also my village road from Sanubi in Ethiope east that was constructed during Ibori’s govt is still intact. I traveled there this last weekend.

“I asked the okada man which govt did this road that is still clean like this. He told me it was Ibori’s govt”.
