Troops under Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have eliminated three bandits and rescued 25 kidnapped victims during an operation in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the operation, codenamed “Golden Peace,” began early Tuesday morning and targeted key bandit hideouts.
Sources revealed that troops launched the operation around 6:00 a.m., clearing bandit strongholds in areas such as Ruwan Sanye, Randa, Rafin Gora, Libere Gari, and Libere Makaranta.
At Randa Village, the troops encountered resistance, leading to a heavy gunfight in which three bandits were neutralized. Several others fled the scene, some with gunshot wounds, abandoning 25 hostages in the process.
While pursuing the fleeing bandits, troops discovered traces of their movement and items including roasted chicken, cigarettes, tramadol, energy drinks, and clothing.
They also uncovered an illegal clinic used by the criminals to treat their wounded members. The makeshift facility was destroyed to deny the bandits further access to medical care.
