The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has been honoured with the People’s Security Monitor award as the first female chairman of the council.
Comrade Ike, who made history as the first female chairman of the council in 43 years, was recognized for her innovation, dedication, leadership skills, and commitment to the welfare of journalists in Nigeria.
She received a certificate of award and a gold medal during the event, which was attended by the council’s Vice Chairman, Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, and other stakeholders.
Popularly known as “Mama Welfare” and “Miss NUJ,” Grace Ike dedicated the award to God and all journalists in the FCT.
The People’s Security Monitor is a popular independent radio and online platform with a large audience in Abuja and across Nigeria. It aims to foster collaboration between citizens and security agencies to tackle insecurity in the country.
