A Nigerian man has taken to social media to lament after discovering an uncompleted house upon his return to Nigeria, despite receiving photos of a fully built and furnished home from his wife. The man revealed that he had been sending her money from Europe over the course of 20 years to build the house.
This incident came to light through a post currently trending on a popular social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), which included visuals of the man visibly distressed and on his knees, pleading for help to resolve the situation. He expressed his shock and disappointment at the betrayal he experienced upon returning home after two decades abroad.
In his statement, the man recounted how he had diligently sent money to his wife to oversee the construction of a house in Nigeria while he remained in Europe. Over the years, she consistently provided him with photos and videos of what appeared to be a finished and furnished house, giving him confidence that his hard-earned money was being put to good use.
However, upon his return to Nigeria, he was devastated to find an uncompleted building instead of the fully completed home he had been led to believe existed. Feeling betrayed and desperate for justice, the man revealed that he had taken action by having his wife arrested, and she is currently being held at the police station.
Sharing his ordeal, he said: “Please help me, come to my rescue. After 20 years in Europe, I gave my wife money to build a house for me. Look at what she built. She always sent me photos of a new house that was already completed and furnished, but this is what she built for me.”
He further added, “I’ve arrested her, and she’s at the station.”
The post has since garnered significant attention on social media, with many users sympathizing with the man and expressing outrage over the betrayal. Some users have shared similar experiences, while others have offered advice on how he might proceed to recover his lost funds or resolve the issue legally.
