Five suspected members of a secessionist group were killed and their camp set ablaze by the Joint Security Forces (JSF) in Anambra State on Tuesday.

The operation is part of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s “Operation Udo Ga Achi,” aimed at eliminating criminal elements in the state.

The operation, which took place in Ufuma, Orumba North Local Government Area, involved a combined team of police, military, and other security agencies.

During the operation, security forces neutralized an armed secessionist gang on Umugem Road, with many others reportedly fleeing with gunshot wounds.

Authorities recovered several weapons, including two AK47 rifles, one pump-action gun, and four undetonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, is urging local residents to cooperate in reclaiming the area from criminal groups.

Governor Soludo, after the Executive Summit in Awka, reiterated that “Operation Udo Ga Achi” would be fully launched shortly to restore peace and security in the state.
