The Federal Government has expressed readiness to receive Nigerians affected by the deportation order of United States President, Donald Trump, and reintegrate them back into society.
Tunji-Ojo, however, assured that the country was ready to assist potential Nigerian deportees to settle and reunite them with their families and beloved ones.
The minister also revealed that the Federal Government had secured a facility at the airport in Lagos to treat some deportees discovered to be suffering from mental fatigue and depression.
He said, “Well, it’s our responsibility to manage our migration policies and, of course, our borders. We’ll do what we need to do. We’re a government elected to serve the Nigerian state and the people. We’re a responsible government and we understand what we need to do. Rest assured that we’re not going to shy away from such responsibility.
“We have a lot of facilities. We, in collaboration with the British Council, just came up with a centre in Lagos airport. I think it was commissioned in December. And, of course, it is to be able to give them support, welcome them back and to let them know Nigeria is a country that cares. We need renewed hope on the premise of humanity and the foundation of care.
“We also understand that it’s about the people. Whether they are Nigerians here in the country or Nigerians in the diaspora, there’s only one president and that’s President Bola Tinubu. He’s not just the president of Nigeria for Nigerians all over the world and he will not shy away from the responsibility of the restoration of whatever he might do.”

Corpse returned to mortuary over family dispute during funeral rites

A family clash which occurred Saturday morning at the funeral rite of 78-year-old Emmanuel Agbozo, popularly known as “Nil oo Nii”, in Nkurakan, Yilo Krobo Municipality, Eastern Region, made it impossible for the deceased to be buried.
As the funeral took a dramatic turn, it took the police’s intervention and escort for the deceased’s body, which was lying in state, to be returned to a private mortuary at Huhunya, a nearby community.
According to Ghana Web, an attempt to prevent one of the deceased’s children from participating in the funeral rites led to the clash.
Family members accused the individual of abandoning his now-deceased father during his illness and failed to visit him.
Also, the late Agbozo, before his demise, had explicitly instructed the family not to allow the son to attend his funeral.
The violent confrontation stemmed as the family members attempted to enforce this directive by the deceased, leading to a clash with the son who brought some young men to fight the family.
This led to property destruction, and injuries before Police reinforcements were called in to restore order.
The Police, in order to ensure peace and prevent further escalation, ordered the body to be returned to the mortuary, and the funeral was suspended indefinitely.
Suspects involved in the clash are currently assisting the police with investigations. (Nigerian Tribune)

Pioneer president of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, the fiery freedom fighter who led Namibia to independence from apartheid South Africa and German colonial rule in 1990 and served as its first president for 15 years, has died aged 95.
His demise was announced Sunday by current Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba, who said Nujoma died on Saturday night after being hospitalized in the capital, Windhoek.
“The foundations of the Republic of Namibia have been shaken,” Mbumba said in a statement. “Over the past three weeks, the Founding President of the Republic of Namibia and Founding Father of the Namibian Nation was hospitalized for medical treatment and medical observation due to ill health.”
“Unfortunately, this time, the most gallant son of our land could not recover from his illness,” Mbumba added. He said Nujoma “marshalled the Namibian people during the darkest hours of our liberation struggle.”
Nujoma was the last of a generation of African leaders who brought their countries out of colonial or white minority rule that included South Africa’s Nelson Mandela, Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, Zambia’s Kenneth Kaunda, Tanzania’s Julius Nyerere and Mozambique’s Samora Machel.
