BUA Cement donates N35million drugs, others to Sokoto hospitals

BUA Cement has donated drugs and other medical consumables to 16 hospitals in Sokoto State in continuation of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The drugs, worth over N35million were handed over to representatives of each of the 16 benefitting communities.

Addressing the gathering before formal distribution of the drugs and other medicaments on Tuesday, the Managing Director of BUA Cement Company, Engineer Yusuf Binji, said the company is satisfied with the mutual beneficial relationship that exist between it and all host communities.

The Managing Director, who was represented by the Assistant Director Administration and Corporate Services, Alhaji Sada Suleiman, said BUA have been assisting the immediate host communities in Wamakko Local government area of Sokoto and neighboring states of Zamfara and Kebbi with scholarship and others as part of its CSR.

Noting that BUA deems it necessary to contribute towards complementing the efforts of host states in improving the living condition of their people, Sada said, “We are dedicated and committed to given back to our host Communities to add value to our common relationship, which is mutually beneficial”.

He further stressed that it is also in appreciation of the continued genuine support and cooperation of host communities, hence appealing that the drugs should be given free to patients who may come for them in the respective hospitals.

Continuing, Sada who disclosed that BUA would soon commission seven additional completed solar borholes across Sokoto State, added that it is in addition to the provision of full uniforms to pupils of primary 5 schools in the host communities.

He further noted that BUA in it’s usual magnanimity, has decided to increase the number of its drugs and medicaments benefiting communities to 16.

Sada also listed the benefiting clinics to include that of Bakin Kusu, Gidan Bailu, Kalambaina, Sabon Garin Alu, Gidan Boka, Asare, Wamakko, Gwuiwa and Beni.

Others are Arkilla, Farfaru, Kaurar Kimba, Wajake, Gumbi and Mobile Police Barracks.

” The drugs are to be given free and not to be sold. BUA in collaboration with the local government will put more eyes and monitor mechanism put in place to ensure that the drugs are fully utilized and administered free of charge, ” Sada assured.

Earlier in his keynote address, BUA’s Director of HCSE, Engineer Ali Gumel, had thanked all the host communities on behalf of the company, saying the company is very satisfied with the existing relationship with the host communities.

Responding on behalf of the benefiting communities, Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Umar Ahmed Dundaye, represented by the Director health of the local government, Umar Sani Tureta, thanked BUA Company for its multiple human interest interventions.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of benefiting communities, the District head of Wajake, Alhaji Muhammadu Mailato Gumbi, said BUA Cement will continue to be appreciated by all the locals for its numerous interventions to host communities over the years.

The District head also listed some of BUA’s interventions in their domains to include but not limited to health, road network, housing, educational scholarship, provision of portable drinking water and lots more.
